How to Charge Your Electric Car

Here you’ll find instructions and assistance for charging your electric car.

You can charge your booked car free of charge from its designated parking spot for the entire duration of your booking. All charging outside the car’s home station is at your own expense.

If you need to charge the car during your trip, you can use the car’s navigation system to find a public destination charger. Charging stations along your route will appear on the map when you enter your destination.
In addition to the car’s navigation system, there are many useful apps and websites that show available public destination chargers, such as uppladdning.nu and Charge Finder (neither of these services is affiliated with OurGreenCar).
On these sites, you can filter by different chargers to find the correct connector with the best charging power for the specific car model. More information is provided below.

Type 2 Charging (standard)

With the Type 2 connector, you charge at the car’s parking spot (the charger the car is connected to when you start your booking). This connector can also be used at public charging stations; however, note that this is NOT fast charging and will therefore take longer.

CCS Charging (fast charging)

With the CCS connector, you fast charge at designated fast-charging stations. The CCS connector is located beneath the Type 2 connector inside the charging port. CCS cables are available at charging stations.

The CCS connector is used for fast charging all car models in our fleet EXCEPT the Nissan Leaf.

CHAdeMO Charging (fast charging)

With the CHAdeMO connector, you fast charge the Nissan Leaf. The CHAdeMO port is located on the left side inside the charging port. CHAdeMO cables are available at charging stations.

Charging at Public Destination Chargers

If you need to charge the car during your trip, you can use the car’s navigation system to find a public destination charger. Charging stations along your route will appear on the map when you enter your destination. In addition to the car’s navigation system, there are many useful apps and websites that show public destination chargers, such as uppladdning.nu and Charge Finder  (neither of these services is affiliated with OurGreenCar).

When charging at a public charging point, you must follow the instructions on the charging post to start charging; information is available at the charging station.
If you experience issues with a public charging station, you need to contact the charging provider for assistance. Their contact information should be available at the station.

*Charging times are based on optimal charging power and may vary depending on the charger used for each connector type, as well as surrounding factors such as weather.
Note: If a charging station with lower capacity is used, the charging times will differ from the table above.

Maximum Capacity for Various Vehicles (for fastest charging)

Bilmodell Schuko Type-2 CCS (snabbladdning) CHAdeMO (snabbladdning)
Nissan Leaf ~2,3 kW 6 kW - 50 kW
Renault Zoe ~2,3 kW 22 kW 50 kW -
Renault 5 ~2,3 kW 11 kW 80 kW -
Renault Megane 40 kWh ~2,3 kW 22 kW 85 kW -
Tesla Model 3 ~2,3 kW 11 kW 170 kW -
Tesla Model Y ~2,3 kW 11 kW 170 kW -
Volkswagen ID.3 ~2,3 kW 11 kW 100 kW -
Volkswagen ID.4 ~2,3 kW 7,2 kW 110 kW -
Volkswagen Caddy Maxi ~2,3 kW 7,4 kW 50 kW -

*You may use charging stations with higher capacity than the car’s maximum capacity, but the car cannot receive more power than listed in the table above and therefore will not charge faster.

Schuko (Household Socket Charger)

Schuko is a household socket charger that can be used, for example, at home if you have a wall outlet to plug the car into.
Note 1: There is no guarantee that this type of charging cable is included in our cars. If you wish to use one, you need to check whether such cable is available in the vehicle.
Note 2: Charging time with this type of charger is very long (see the table above).
